From June 20 to 23, Vice President of Jiangsu University (JSU) Prof. Zou Xiaobo, led a delegation to Hong Kong to attend the 2023 Times Higher Education (THE) Asia Universities Summit and made exchanges with some international experts and scholars in the higher education sector.
During the summit, Prof. Zou Xiaobo had an in-depth exchange on the university-running characteristics, inter-universityl exchanges and scope of cooperation with Provost of Chinese University of Hong Kong Prof. Alan K.L. Chan, Rector of the University of Macau Prof. Song Yonghua, and Vice President of Macau University of Science and Technology Chair Prof. Jiang Zhihong, to promote the cooperation between JSU and the high-quality universities in Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions. And he conducted a symposium with Simone, president of THE Asia and Pacific Regions, and Director of Research Management of Elsevier China Yang Lu, to deeply analyze JSU’s strengths and weaknesses in THE World University Rankings in recent years, and to discuss how to improve JSU's digital governance capability, teachers' research activity and their international reputation.
The theme of the summit is “The Asian universities in 2050”. The summit was sponsored by the Chinese University of Hong Kong at Cheng Ka Chun International Convention Center. Over 500 global education leaders and experts from more than 30 countries and regions discussed three major topics: "Partnerships and University Alliances", "Research Strategies and New Trends", and "Internationalization and Student Experience".
During the summit, Times Higher Education published Asian University Rankings 2023, with 699 universities from 31 countries and regions on the list. JSU ranks 196th in Asia and 43rd in mainland China, achieving steady improvement in ranking.
