The Confucius Institute jointly established by Jiangsu University and the University of Nis in Serbia was officially authorized in September 2023.

The construction of the Confucius Institute at University of Niš will focus on international cooperation in Chinese language education. While "spreading Chinese culture and telling Chinese stories well", it will play the role of a comprehensive exchange platform to promote the common development of the two universities in the fields of discipline construction, personnel training and scientific research cooperation, and become a model of cultural and educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Serbia.

JSU actively promotes the "Belt and Road" education initiative in an all-round way, and attaches importance to educational exchanges and cooperation with universities in Central and Eastern Europe. The Confucius Institute at University of Niš in Serbia is the only new Confucius Institute approved in Jiangsu Province in 2023. The establishment of the Institute marks a new stage in the international Chinese education of the University, which will help enhance the influence of the University in Central and Eastern Europe, and to promote cultural exchanges and people-to-people exchanges between China and Central and Eastern Europe.

Founded in 1965, University of Niš is a famous public comprehensive university in Serbia and the third largest higher education institution in the country, located in the city of Niš in southern Serbia. The university has excellent operating conditions and a team of high-level teaching staff. It is one of the first universities in Serbia with the right to grant bachelor's, master's and doctor's degrees. The university currently has more than 23,000 students and 1,700 faculty members and has 14 colleges and 130 professional directions. The academic programs offered on campus covers the fields of natural science, technical science, social science, language and art. As a pilot university of various educational and scientific research reform projects such as the Serbian higher Education Reform Project, the university has trained a large number of interdisciplinary and innovative talents for Serbian society to lead the country's modernization.
