JSU Selected as National Energy R&D Innovation Platform

Recently, National Energy Administration released the list of the first batch of National Energy R&D Innovation Platforms during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). The National Energy Advanced Nuclear Power Pump Technology R&D Center led by Jiangsu University (JSU) was selected into the list.

The establishment of the platforms is a key move to support the implementation of the national new energy security strategy and innovation-driven strategy, and promote the technological advancement in the energy sector.

Recommended by Jiangsu Development & Reform Commission and led by JSU, the National Energy Advanced Nuclear Power Pump Technology R&D Center is co-built by six contractors, designers and manufacturers of nuclear power pump in China, including China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd., Harbin Electric Power Equipment Co., Ltd., SBW (Shenyang Blower Works) Nuclear Power Pump Co., Ltd., Shanghai Apollo Machinery Co., Ltd. and CNNC (China National Nuclear Corporation) Nuclear Power Operation and Management Co. Ltd..

Toward the goals of reaching peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality, the National Energy Advanced Nuclear Power Pump Technology R&D Center will thoroughly apply the new energy security strategy and innovation-driven strategy. Under China’s medium and long term development objectives, exploiting the pioneering role of forward-looking academic research and focusing on basic research in applied sciences.

The Center will focus on such areas as the enhancement of safety and economy of the third-generation reactor coolant pump, the matching characteristic of concrete spiral circulating pump and its device system, fault diagnosis and intelligent operation and maintenance system of nuclear power pump, key techniques of the fourth-generation reactor coolant pump, breakthrough in bottleneck of core technologies of designing, manufacturing and applying of nuclear power pump.

Efforts will also be made to provide intellectual and technical support for solving key common problems in realizing innovation of the nuclear power pump industry, construct bases for studying basic theory, researching and developing technologies, facilitating application of sci-tech advances and applying engineering, make use of the Center as a supportive and leading part of the industry, thus making greater contributions to accelerating the independent and localization development of nuclear power pump.
