The 10th Anniversary Development Forum of Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education was held at JSU

On the 18th June 2022, the 10th Anniversary Development Forum of the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education of the School of Mathematical Sciences was held at Jiangsu University (JSU).

The forum was conducted in a hybrid mode of offline and online, together with synchronous live broadcasting. Executive Vice President and Provost of Arcadia University Prof. Jeff Ruttenbeck, President of Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences Tang Tao, President of JSU Prof. Yan Xiaohong, Vice President of JSU Prof. Tian Lixin and Prof. Chen Hong, Chairman of Branch for Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools, China Association of Higher Education (BCFCRS,CAHE), and Professor of Xiamen University Lin Jinhui, Deputy Director of the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Division of Jiangsu Education Department Rui Yixian attended the forum. The forum was hosted by Prof. Chen Hong.

The Mathematics Sino-Foreign Cooperation Project of JSU is a high-level cooperation platform. It was approved as a base for high-level cooperation project for Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education in Jiangsu Province in 2017, Sino-Foreign Cooperative Scientific Research platform in Jiangsu Province in 2019, demonstration base for high-level project assessment for Sino-Foreign cooperative education in Jiangsu Province in 2020, and was in the first batch of national-level first-class undergraduate cooperation projects in 2019. In 2022, the Ministry of Education approved expanding the student enrollment in the project from 30 to 60 students.

In Prof. Yan Xiaohong’s speech, he affirmed the achievements of the Sino-Foreign cooperative school-administered project in mathematics, and pointed out that adhering to the positioning of high-quality school-administration and the maintaining of a high-standard of cooperation and sharing was the key to the success of the project. He sent a message to the students of the International Mathematics Class to embrace an open vision, adhere to lifelong learning, actively absorb first-class ideas, and strive to grow into an international innovative talent with an international vision and a global competence.

In Jeff Rottenbeck’s online remarks, he noted that the project deepened the partnership between the two universities and fulfills its mission to provide students with unique and extraordinary global opportunities. He looked forward to the continued in-depth cooperation between the two sides in terms of cultivating students and strengthening faculty and staff exchanges.

Ru Yixian, on behalf of the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Division of Jiangsu Education Department, celebrated the achievements of JSU's mathematics Sino-Foreign cooperation project, and hoped that the project would be further developed in terms of international exchanges and cooperation.

The Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences of JSU Prof. Zhang Zhitao, comprehensively summarized the achievements of the Sino-Foreign cooperative education in the Mathematics Project over the past ten years in terms of discipline construction, innovative talent cultivation and social benefits. He also put forward the future development plans for the project.

At the event, Prof. Yan Xiaohong presented the "Outstanding Contribution Award" to Prof. Lu Dianchen and Prof. Zheng Xizhong. Prof. Tian Lixin presented the award to the outstanding teaching team of the project and the Director of the International Office Prof. Pan Jianfeng presented certificates to the students who won the 2022 "Green Pine Knight Award".

At the forum, Academician Tang Tao and Prof. Lin Jinhui respectively made keynote speeches on the theme of "Beijing Normal And Hong Kong Baptist University's New Type of International Schooling - Integrating China and the West, Connecting Ancient and Modern", "The Development Policy Trend of Sino-Foreign Cooperative Schools".
