From the 10th till 12th June 2022, the International Conference on Variational Methods and Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations was held on-line. The conference was jointly hosted by the School of Mathematical Sciences of Jiangsu University (JSU) and the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science (AMSS) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
More than 300 experts, scholars, and graduate students from China, the United States, Canada, Australia, and other interested parties logged on to the meetings. Included in the attendees was the Academician and the Director of the Department of Mathematics and Physics of the National Natural Science Foundation of China Jiang Song, the Academician of the Academy of AMSS of CAS Zhang Ping, the Academician of the Australian Academy of Sciences Du Yihong, and the Academician of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences Wei Juncheng.
President of JSU Prof. Yan Xiaohong, delivered the opening address, briefing the developments at JSU and the founding of the School of Mathematical Sciences. Academician Jiang Song introduced the theme and content of the conference under the national context of nonlinear functional analysis in China. He believes that variational methods and nonlinear partial differential equations is the current research focus, and affirmed the work of JSU in the construction of mathematics disciplines.
During the three-day conference, 22 experts representing Tsinghua University, Peking University, the University of Science and Technology of China, Rutgers University, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and other domestic and foreign universities gave presentations. Focusing on the topics of variational methods, elliptic equations, parabolic equations, other non-linear partial differential equations, dynamical systems, bio mathematics, and mathematical modeling, they shared and discussed their latest research results and academic development trends.
The conference provided a platform for learning, sharing, and cooperation for young talents and graduate students from the field of variational methods and nonlinear partial differential equations at home and abroad. It further promoted the developments and achievements in nonlinear scientific fields. It was conducive in strengthening the construction of mathematical disciplines in JSU and to improving the level of theoretical innovation.
