On April 18, the Karachi unit 3 in Pakistan powered by the Hualong One reactor, which is the fourth nuclear power unit worldwide and second overseas unit of the China-developed third-generation nuclear reactor, passed the provisional acceptance. So far, Karachi unit 2 and 3 units of the first Hualong One overseas demonstration project have been fully completed and put into operation. Through in-depth co-operation with the nuclear industry, JSU has been able to supply nuclear grade pumps to this power station. A number of JSU Research and Development (R & D) initiatives, like the hydraulic models of auxiliary feed water electric pumps, front storage tank pumps and degassing tower drain pumps have been successfully installed at the Hualong One unit; During the installation and test stage of the power station equipment, the team provided technical support for the construction of the reactor, criticality and grid-connected power generation projects of the nuclear power unit, and assisted the site to successfully solve the vibration problems of auxiliary feed water electric pumps and other equipment.
It is expected that 2 Hualong One units will generate approximately 20 billion kWh of electricity per year after completion. This is equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by 6.24 million tons, cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 16.32 million tons. It will play an important role in optimizing Pakistan's energy mix, bringing global carbon dioxide emissions to a peak, achieving carbon neutrality and jointly addressing the global climate crisis.
