On May 26, Shanghai Ranking Consultancy released Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) of this year. 15 disciplines of Jiangsu University (JSU) were included and ranked 53rd among Chinese mainland’s universities. Among them, Food Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering entered top 50 globally, and Instrument Science, Energy Science and Engineering top 100.
Compared with 2020, Food Science and Engineering entered the world's top 50 and ranked 27th for the first time. Chemical Engineering advanced from 42nd to 34th, Instrument Science from top 100 to top 75, and Energy Science and Engineering from top 150 to top 100. In addition, the number of top 200 subjects has increased from 7 to 11.
In GRAS, more than 1,800 universities and colleges from 93 countries and regions are on the list. Among them, 272 universities and colleges are from Chinese mainland with 2,470 subjects, a number second only to the United States.
Shanghai Ranking annually publishes rankings such as "China University Rankings", "China's Best Subject Rankings", "World-Class Subject Rankings" and others, receiving extensive attention at home and abroad. GRAS covers 54 disciplines in the fields of Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medicine and Social Sciences. Universities that published a number of papers in such disciplines from 2015 to 2019 will be included by evaluating their number of high-level papers, paper influence, degree of internationalization, authoritative awards, etc.
