Jiangsu University (JSU) won the cup for the sixth time in a row with the highest score at the 6th “Zoomlion” Cup — International Innovation Competition of Intelligent Agricultural Equipment for University Students, a competition held at Shandong University of Technology from Dec. 18 to 19.
Jointly organized by the International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CIGR), the Chinese Society for Agricultural Machinery (CSAM), the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering (CSAE) and the International University Consortium for Agricultural Engineering (IUCAE), the competition has produced a number of high-tech items with high market potentials, good social benefits and obvious investment value. Lovol Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., Shandong Juming Group, and Shandong Transce Agricultural Machinery Technology Co., Ltd. signed transfer and transformation agreements of innovative achievements with students.
Mr. Chen Xuegeng and Mr. Zhao Chunjiang, Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. Wang Bo, President of CSAM, Prof. Li Hongbo, Vice Chair of JSU Council and other guests attended the opening ceremony. Prof. Fedro, Secretary-General of CIGR, delivered a speech on behalf of CIGR. Prof. Li Hongbo delivered a speech on behalf of two organizers, namely, Synergistic Innovation Center of Jiangsu Modern Agricultural Equipment and Technology (SICJMAET), and the International University Consortium for Agricultural Engineering (IUCAE).
Academicians Chen Xuegeng and Zhao Chunjiang delivered speeches on behalf of the Competition Steering Committee and the CSAE respectively, and affirmed the competition’s collaborative education and cultivation of elites. They hoped that the competition would continue to produce high-quality productivity, improve innovation, serve the industry, so as to contribute to the technological innovation and talent cultivation in the field of modern agricultural equipment, and China’s agricultural modernization development.
This competition nearly consumed one year of preparation. More than 1,100 teachers and students from 48 colleges and universities including China Agricultural University, Jilin University came to form 305 teams and participated in it. 194 items in category A, 99 in category B and 12 in category C entered the finals.
23 special prizes, 50 first prizes and 101 second prizes were awarded. 21 teams from the School of Agricultural Engineering, School of Electrical and Information Engineering, the General Mechanical and Electrical Factory and other units of JSU entered the national final. Among them 19 teams won prizes, including 3 Special Prizes, 5 First Prizes, and 9 Outstanding Instructors.
The International Innovation Competition of Intelligent Agricultural Equipment for University Students initiated by JSU has been going through six times and has become the most influential competition on agricultural equipment engineering. The competition serves as a mechanism that promotes the in-depth integration of universities, industries and research institutes, supports talent cultivation, supply and demand among universities, enterprises and industries, and provides talents and intellectual support for China’s progress from a big country toward a power in agricultural equipment.
