JSU’s First Sino-Foreign Joint Education Institute Approved by MoE

On November 11, the Ministry of Education (MoE) affirmed and approved the co-establishment of Jiangsu University Cranfield Tech Futures Graduate Institute (JSU-CU Institute) by Jiangsu University (JSU) and Cranfield University (CU). This is JSU’s first Sino-foreign joint education institute. It is a major breakthrough and landmark in JSU’s path toward internationalization. It marks a new level of the JSU’s work in cultivating high-level and compound international talents.

The JSU-CU Institute engages in master’s and doctoral education. It offers 4 master’s programs in agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering and engineering management, and 3 doctoral programs in power engineering and engineering thermophysics, materials science and engineering, and environmental science and engineering. The JSU-CU Institute is mainly committed to cultivating talents with international perspectives, cross-cultural communication skills, solid foundation, and broad professional knowledge in engineering, and fostering high-end innovation-driven international talents of engineering.

CU is world-renowned for its strong teaching and research. In 2014, 81% of CU’S research was classed as world leading or internationally excellent according to the Research Excellence Framework. In the 2019 QS World University Rankings, Engineering-Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing of CU ranks the world Top 39. Its machinery manufacturing, aerospace engineering, materials, business management, agriculture, energy, transportation systems and others have close links with business and industry, all combining to integrate CU’s research and courses with the market.

Since October 2018, nearly 100 staff members from JSU and CU have contributed to JSU-CU Institute’s application. Leaders of CU have visited JSU for many times to promote it.
