The 2020 Opening Ceremony of Sino-Australian Joint Degree Program was Held at JSU

On Oct. 12, the 2020 Opening Ceremony of Sino-Australian Joint Degree Program jointly organized by Jiangsu University (JSU), the University of Queensland (UQ) and Macquarie University (MQU) was held at JSU. Prof. Yan Xiaohong, President of JSU, Prof. Zhao Yutao, Vice President of JSU, leaders, teachers, students and parents representatives from relevant departments and schools, Mr. Rongyu Li, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UQ, Prof. Aleksander Rakic, Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology of UQ, Ms. Nicole Brigg, Pro Vice-Chancellor of MQU, Mr. David Harrison, Executive Director of International Office of MQU, Mr. Lin Yue, Secretary-general of Jiangsu International Foundation for Education Excellence attended the ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Prof. Yan Xiaohong, Mr. Rongyu Li and Ms. Nicole Brigg delivered speeches respectively, encouraging students to seize the opportunity, rise up to challenges, make full use of the high-quality teaching resources provided by the program, constantly expand their horizons, comprehensively improve their comprehensive qualities, and become innovative, international talents with compound and applied skills who familiar with international rules and have a strong sense of social responsibility.

In the last part, Prof. Zhao Yutao and other leaders released the welcome letters to new students.

In 2019, the 2+2 Sino-Australian Joint Degree Program started the first enrollment in Electrical Engineering and Automation, and Finance. In 2020, the program expanded the enrollment of students in Computer Science and Technology. The program has cultivated nearly 150 students.

It is one of the eight famous universities of the Ivy League in Australia. UQ is also recognized as the university with the highest teaching quality and students’ satisfaction. In 2020, UQ ranks 47th in QS World University Rankings. MQU was founded in 1964 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The CPA and CFA courses are ranked 1st in Australia, and the actuarial major ranks among the top 15 in the world. MQU ranks 195th in Times World University ranking 2021.
