On August 5th, 2020, Ma Qiulin, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, came to Jiangsu University (JSU) for special research and guidance. Zhang Lefu, Deputy Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, Hongliu, First Class Inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Jiang Hong, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Shen Yi, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Li Yutao, Second Inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, and Ma Minglong, Secretary of the Zhenjiang Municipal Party Committee , Chen Keke, Vice Mayor of Zhenjiang City and others accompanied the visiting. Prof. Yuan Shouqi, Chair of University Committee of JSU, Prof. Yan Xiaohong, President of JSU, introduced the agricultural machinery talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services of JSU.

Ma Qiulin visited the university history museum to learn more about the JSU’s history and latest achievements. Ma Qiulin highly appreciated the gratifying achievements of the JSU and the contributions to the development of China’s agricultural machinery industry.

The delegation visited the Jiangsu Provincial Food Intelligent Manufacturing Equipment Engineering Laboratory. Prof. Zou Xiaobo, Dean of the School of Food & Biological Engineering, introduced the current problems encountered in the development of the food manufacturing equipment industry, and focused on the laboratory’s role of improving quality, enhancing performance, upgrading intelligence in Jiangsu Province’s high-end manufacturing equipment industry, and also introduced research on issues such as the construction of platforms for common core technologies, integrated of key functional components and equipment, achievement commercialism, and industry-university-research cooperation. Ma Qiulin emphasized that JSU should invest more in the R&D of agricultural products and food processing equipment automation and intelligence, speed up the development of new testing instruments and equipment, and provide a strong guarantee for food quality and safety.

Ma Qiulin highly affirmed the JSU’s achievements in scientific and technological innovation. He hoped that JSU would stay true to JSU’s mission of strengthening promoting agriculture, fully carry forward the characteristic advantages of “highlighting agriculture in engineering, supporting agriculture with engineering”, establish and improve the collaborative innovation system and mechanism, further enhance the JSU’s ability of scientific and technological innovation, accelerate the commercialization of scientific and research findings, continue to focus on the layout of Jiangsu industrial chain and accelerate the building of high-end platforms such as the “high-end intelligent agricultural equipment theory and technology” State Key Laboratory jointly built by the provincial and Ministry, thus making greater contributions to the economic and social development of Jiangsu Province.
