22 Subjects of JSU were Selected into the First China Subject Ranking by THE

On July 22, 2020, the Times Higher Education (THE) released the first China Subject Ratings. Jiangsu University ranks 44th among the mainland of China’s universities with 3 A-type subjects and 22 subjects on the list, ranking 2nd in the none 985 or 211 universities, only second to Shenzhen University. Among the listed subjects, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Technology, and Environmental Science and Engineering, are classified as Class A; 14 disciplines including Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, and Food Science and Engineering are classified as Class B.

The rating system is based on the A+ to C- scoring system. According to the domestic discipline classification, 80 universities in mainland of China and 1275 other world universities are listed. The rating list contains 89 first level disciplines, outnumbering those of other international disciplines ranking.

The universities covered in the THE Chinese Subject Rating are all listed in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The following 4 key indicators must be met at the same time to be included in the subject rating: enter the 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and have applied to participate in the 2021 ranking; meet the relevant subject ranking threshold; select the relevant subjects; meet the requirements of the minimum number of papers published in a subject between 2014 and 2018.

The Performance Index of Times Higher Education Chins Subject Ratings is mainly divided into 5: teaching, research, citation, international perspective and industry income.
