Recently, the Ministry of Education approved the “China-Africa Friendship” Chinese Government Scholarship Program for the 2020-2021 school year. The “High-level Talent Cultivation Project for African Countries’ Universities” declared by Jiangsu University was for the first time approved the “China-Africa Friendship” Chinese Government Scholarship Program.
In recent years, “the Belt and Road” initiative and the first-class discipline in China have been actively supported by JSU. Taking this as an opportunity, JSU further improves the quality of students, optimizes the structure of students, and specifically sets up a doctoral program to cultivate university teachers in countries which participated the “the Belt and Road” initiative. So far, JSU has signed teacher training cooperation agreements with 16 African universities such as the University of Nigeria, the University of Zambia, the University of Botswana, and the University of Namibia to train high-level teachers for these universities. The project was funded by the “China-Africa Friendship” scholarship from the Ministry of Education, which not only affirms JSU’s overseas students’ education in China and “the Belt and Road” initiative industry-university integrated education, but also provides a good platform for JSU’s agricultural engineering discipline to further expand its international influence. The “High-level Talent Cultivation Project for African Countries’ Universities” of JSU mainly recruits agricultural graduate students recommended by partner universities.
In addition to the “China-Africa Friendship” Chinese Government Scholarship Program, JSU has also been approved 2 consecutive Chinese government scholarship programs to support overseas students’ study in China this year, namely the “University Graduate Student” Scholarship Program and the “Silk Road” Scholarship Program.
