The 26th Tri-U International Joint Seminar and Symposium

The 26th Tri-U International Joint Seminar & Symposium (The 26th Tri-U) was held from Oct. 21st –25th, 2019 at Jiangsu University (JSU). The 26th Tri-U aims at providing a platform for scholars and students from universities all around the world especially in Asia to present ongoing researches focusing upon five themes, including Population, Food, Energy, Environment and The Belt & Road Initiative. President Prof. Yan Xiaohong, Vice President Prof. Zhao Yutao of JSU, China, Prof. Hayato Umekawa, Executive Vice President of Mie University, Japan, Assistant Prof. Nat Vorayos, Dean of Faculty of Engineering of Chiang Mai University, Thailand, Prof. Drajat Matrianto, Vice Rector of Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia, Prof, Fan Zuojun, Vice President of Guangxi University, China attended the opening ceremony. This year, more than 140 delegates from 13 universities of 5 countries took part in the 26th Tri-U.

In the opening ceremony, President Yan Xiaohong gave the welcome and opening remarks to welcome the delegates to the China, and ended his speech by encouraging delegates to feel freely to interact with each other and also feel the warmth of the people of Zhenjiang and JSU for that matter. After the opening ceremony, Prof. Hayatou Umekawa (Mie University), Assistant Prof. Nat Vorayas (Chiang Mai University) and Prof. Sun Jianzhou (Jiangsu University) gave the plenary speech to share the ideas in food, environment and energy fields.

During the meeting, the student delegates attended the oral presentation and poster presentation on the five themes. In the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented the Best Presentation Awards, Best Poster Awards, Best Workshop Awards and the Founder Awards. In order to promote cultural exchange, the 26th Tri-U also organized welcome party on October 21st and the farewell party on October 24th.

Since 1994, Tri-U International Joint Seminar & Symposium was initiated by Mie University, Japan, Chiang Mai University, Thailand and Jiangsu University, China. And then the Tri-U has become a yearly regular event. In 2011 and 2018 Bogor Agricultural University and Guangxi University were newly accepted as one of the host universities.
