On May 27, Prof. Xin Shichang, Vice President of Tsinghua University (Taiwan), officially visited Jiangsu University. President Yan Xiaohong of JSU met the guests. Leaders of Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, School of Liberal Arts, School of Electrical and Information Engineering and School of Science attended the meeting.

During the meeting, President Yan Xiaohong Expressed warm welcome to President Xin Shichang on behalf of JSU. Additionally, he introduced the educational history, discipline superiority, scientific research, achievements transformation, and internationalization of JSU, as well as some future plans such as the university’s intention of focusing on developing agricultural machinery (unmanned agricultural machinery) and so on. President Yan Xiaohong made a significant announcement that all Taiwan’s colleges and universities are welcome to join the International Consortium of Agricultural Engineering Universities initiated by JSU.

Vice President Xin Shichang expressed his sincere thanks to our university for the warm reception and highly appreciated the achievements made by JSU. He particularly highlighted the accomplishments made in international education. During the visit, the Vice President introduced the educational history, general situation and characteristics of Tsinghua University (Taiwan), and suggested that JSU incorporate elements of Zhenjiang culture into the university’s publicity. Finally, the two sides reached consensus on teacher training, short-term cultural project cooperation in Chinese international communication, exchanges between well-known scholars, etc. on the basis of the established cooperation.

In addition, Vice President Xin Shichang also had a discussion with the teachers of the Chinese International Education Department of the School of Liberal Arts where topics were discussed such as discipline characteristics, scientific research achievements and the advantages of the Chinese international education platform. The team of guests studied the regional culture of Zhenjiang and the culture of the Grand Canal. Future research ideas were discussed and a plan was made to jointly organize an international academic exchange conference with the theme of training of teachers on international Chinese localization.

In conclusion, Jiangsu University and Tsinghua University (Taiwan) reaffirmed cooperation efforts and reached a consensus on teacher training, short-term cultural project cooperation on Chinese international communication, and exchanges between well-known scholars.
