JSU Won Science and Technology Awards of Jiangsu in 2018
May 17, 2019

On May 10, 2018, Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the provincial government held the annual provincial science and technology award conference in the auditorium of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference, rewarding the winners and units for the achievements in science and technology in 2018. Lou Qinjian, Secretary of Jiangsu Party Committee, Wu Zhenglong, Governor of Jiangsu Provincial Government presented certificates to winners. Yuan Shouqi, Chair of University Committee of JSU, accepted the award.

In 2018, JSU won the provincial science and technology award for 7 presiding achievements and 7 cooperative achievements, ranking 4th among all universities in Jiangsu, of which one was awarded the 1st prize while 3 were awarded the 2nd and 3 were awarded 3rd prizes respectively.

Notably, the findings of “key technology research and engineering application of high-end chemical centrifugal pumps" led by researcher Yuan Shouqi, who won the first prize at the conference and was recommended to apply for the 2019 National Science and Technology Progress Award. The project systematically studied the theory, key technology and typical products of high-end chemical centrifugal pumps. The research presents a solution to overcome key technical problems that affect the high efficiency and reliability of chemical centrifugal pumps under high temperature, high pressure and complex multiphase medium conditions. Additionally, the project developed 6 types of high-end chemical centrifugal pump products that have met the standards of the international advanced level; in particular, the key performance indicator has reached the international level. The chemical centrifugal pump products developed in the project are capable of filling the domestic gap and replacing the need for imports. Consequently, they were utilized in key national projects such as the China-Myanmar crude oil pipeline and Qinshan nuclear power plant.

The 2018 award conference ended with 276 science and technology awards granted, which included 45 1st prizes, 79 2nd prizes and 152 3rd prizes.
