From November 29th to December 1st, 2018 “The Belt and Road” Forum for International Cooperation and Development on Agricultural Modernization was held in JSU, which was jointly organized by Jiangsu University and China Association for The Promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation. Chinese and foreign guests gathered on campus to exchange and discuss topics such as “The Belt and Road” agricultural modernization construction, agricultural engineering technology transfer, and agricultural (equipment) capacity cooperation.

During the forum President Yan Xiaohong met with Mr. Traore Adams Kolia, Governor of Iffou Region, Coate d'Ivoire, Prof. Drapaliuk Mikhail, Academician of Russian Federal Academy of Sciences and Headmaster of Voronezh State University of Forestry Technologies, Mr. Chen Zhigang, Academician of Russian Federal Academy of Sciences and Chairman of the Russian-Chinese “The Belt and Road” Strategic Development Research Association, Mr. Pierre Claver Nahimana, Former Minister of Ministry of Agriculture, Burundi, Mr. Boikaego Phole, Chairman of Horticulture Farmer Council, Botswana, Mr. Sabyrbekov Almazbek, Advisor to the Speaker of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Shahid Rashid, Executive Director of Centre of Excellence for China Pakistan Economic Corridor, Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform, Pakistan, and Dr. Alex Ariho, Consultant of African Union Department of Agriculture and Rural Economy. The leaders of the International Office, Overseas Education College, School of Agricultural Equipment Engineering, and School of Food and Biological Engineering attended the meeting.

On behalf of JSU, President Yan warmly welcomed International guests and introduced the purpose and objectives of the forum, and emphasized our university’s achievements in the fields of agricultural science and engineering, food science, characteristics and achievements in personnel training, scientific research, and Internationalization process. The International guests expressed their sincere gratitude to the warm reception of our university and highly appreciated the achievements of our university, introduced the agricultural and agricultural production and processing of their respective countries, and the cooperation of “The Belt and Road”. They expressed their desire to cooperate with our university to promote agricultural machinery. After communication and exchanges, all parties reached consensus on personnel training, teacher training, and scientific research cooperation in the fields of agricultural engineering and food. In addition, cooperation agreements were signed with the Voronezh State University of Forestry Technologies, the China-Arab Technical and Cultural Transfer Center and the African Union.

2018 “The Belt and Road” Forum for International Cooperation and Development on Agricultural Modernization aims to implement the “Vision and Action of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to jointly promote “The Belt and Road” to build agricultural cooperation” and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Agriculture. The spirit of the district "Construction Plan” aggregates the social forces in the national agricultural engineering field along "The Belt and Road" to enhance the influence of the agricultural engineering disciplines at home and abroad, and to help "world-class disciplines" and high-level university construction.
