On May 27, 2017, 30 teachers and students headed by Prof. Yang Cheng, Vice President of the Universityof Saint Joseph in Macao, visited JSU. Prof. Chen Long, Vice President of JSU, accompanied by Li Zhongxing, Director of International Office, Huang Ting, Deputy Director of International Office and Ren Xiaofei, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts met with the delegation.Vice President Chen Long extended a warm welcome to the teachers and students of the University of Saint Joseph. Director Li Zhongxing gave a brief introduction of the JSU’s operation, advantageous disciplines and student exchanges. Vice-Chancellor Yang Cheng, teachers and students from University of Saint Joseph introduced their university's history, teaching characteristics and student associations, hoping to promote the exchange and interaction between the two universities in the fields of literature and education on the basis of theJiangsu, Macao and Portuguese Speaking Countries’ University Network (JMP), thus promoting Macao students’ in-depth understanding of the Mainland and realizing the goal of stimulating the dialogue and cooperation of the four places across the Strait.
JMP was established in October 2015, aiming to create diversified international cooperative opportunities and actively promote the understanding and cooperation among the universities in Jiangsu Province, Macao area and Portuguese-speaking countries. At present, the Union members’ include 27 universities from Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique, Macao and Jiangsu Province. JSU is one of the 9 member universities in Jiangsu Province.
University of Saint Joseph, founded in 1996 as a private university in Macao, is co-organized by the Catholic University of Portugal and the Catholic Church of Macao. It is one of the universities recognized by the European educational institutions in Macao. The university upholds the aim of internationalization and courses are taught in English. There are more than 1,500 students from over 70 countries and regions in the university at present.
