Prof. Norman Terry from the University of California, Berkeley Joined JSU as Part-time Professor

On May 15, 2017, the recruitment ceremony for Prof. Norman Terry from the University of California at Berkeley was held at the Conference Center, Jiangsu Univeristy. Prof. Ma Haile, Party secretary of the School of Food and Biological Engineering hosted the ceremony. After the ceremony, Prof. Norman Terry delivered an academic report entitledMyOpinion on Writing English Articlesand Scientific Research. More than 100 Chinese and foreign students and teachers from the School of Food and Biological Engineering, Institute of Life Science, School of Environment and Safety Engineering and School of Agricultural Equipment Engineering attended the event.

Prof. Norman Terry carried on a six-day academic exchange program, including attending meetings and working in the laboratory of School of Food and Biological Engineering. Beside the lecture he also met up with Chinese teachers to discuss issues of common concern as well as to explore scientific research cooperation between both universitites.

Prof.Norman Terry obtained his Ph.D from the University of Nottingham in 1966 and is currently a professor of plant and microbiology at the University of California at Berkeley. He focuses on phytoremediation and using plants to control contaminated soil and water. He has published more than 260 papers and monographs in important periodicals like Nature Biotechnology, Environmental Science & Technology, Plant Physiology and Applied and Environmental Microbiology. Furthermore, he has obtained three patents authorized in the United States.
