Vice President Zhang Jijian Visits Universities in Russia and Finland

From Oct. 20 to Oct. 27, 2016, Vice President Zhang Jijian led a delegation to visit Khabarovsk State University of Economics & Law, University of Turku and Turku Positron Emission-Computed Tomogaphy (PET) Center.

At Khabarovsk State University of Economics & Law, our delegation met President, Prof. Yury G. Plesovkikh, first Vice President Prof. Irina B. Mironova, Vice President Dr. Irina V. Zikunova, President Assistant Mr. Konstantin G. Verestev and Director of International Office Dr. Tatyna V. Malovichko. Two universities discussed about the cooperation in the areas of Economic, Management, Law and Literature, and signed the cooperation agreement. The delegation also attended the job fairs to attract overseas talents to join JSU.

Turku PET Centre is a Finnish National Research Institute for the use of short-lived positron emitting isotopes in the field of medical research. The Centre has two major functions, high quality scientific research and diagnostic service for the whole country. The Centre consists of Accelerator Laboratory, Radiopharmaceutical chemistry laboratory, Preclinical imaging laboratory and PET imaging laboratory. The delegation visited the laboratories, and reached the agreement on cooperation in the areas of Cardiovascular and metabolic research, Preclinical imaging and drug research and Radiochemistry research and etc, with Director of PET center Prof. Matti Juhani Knuuti, Direcotor of Laboratory of Radiochemistry, and Senior Researcher Han Chunlei.

University of Turku was established in 1920, ranked 2nd place in Finland, and 233th of QS World University Rankings 2016. During the visit, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Pentti Huovinen met the delegation. Two universities reached the cooperation intention in areas of Biological Medicine, Microbiology and Pathology, Clinical Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Biological Materials and Biotechnology.

Through this visit, the delegation consolidated the long-term cooperation relationship with Russian universities. And as the first university official delegation to visit Finland, the visit expanded the influence of JSU, and opened the prelude of cooperation with Finland universities.
