Ghana University Leaders Visit JSU

A delegation of representatives from the leadership of the University of Education, Winneba (UE Winneba), Ghana visited Jiangsu University on Thursday March 10th. The visit was an opportunity for the delegates to meet the leadership of JSU, discuss opportunities for academic partnership and tour the facilities of the university.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Mawutor Avoke, Registrar Dr. Christopher Yartey Akwaa-Mensa, Finance Officer Dr. Theophilus Senyo Ackorlie and Principal Prof. Reynolds Okai arrived early in the morning to a formal greeting by JSU Vice President Chen Long. JSU representatives at the meeting included Director Li Zhongxing and Deputy Director Huang Ting from International Office, Dean Gao Jing from Overseas Education College and Deputy Director Chen Haibo from Academic Affairs’ Office.
Vice President Chen Long extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed hopes for a future of cooperation between the two universities. Vice Chancellor Avoke expressed gratitude for the hospitality he received and conveyed firm belief in the fruitful bilateral cooperation.
Next on the busy schedule of the UE Winneba group was a visit to the Overseas Education College. Prof. Gao Jing led a meeting with OEC leaders and some students from Ghana. She gave a detailed rundown of JSU programs and facilities for foreign students, explaining scholarships, extracurricular activities, physical and mental health services, awards, etc. Prof. Reynolds Okai gave a presentation on the UE Winneba, explaining that the university was the first in West Africa to offer teacher education. This meeting was also an opportunity for the representatives of both universities to discuss the needs of their students to facilitate cooperation and exchange within the programs.
After the meeting at the OEC the UE Winneba group was given a tour of the Overseas Apartments, University Museum, School of Agricultural Equipment Engineering, Research Center of Fluid Machinery & Engineering and the Library. They were deeply impressed with JSU’s long history and rapid developments in fundamental facilities, discipline construction and scientific research.
Finally, after a long and productive visit, the UE Winneba delegation ended their day of exploration. Heartfelt gratitude was shown all around and invitations were given for future connection.
