Students back with honor from Global Youth Forum

June 30, 3 Jiangsu University students, namely Zhou Zhenyu (China) from the School of Foreign Languages, Halitov Babur (Uzbekistan) and Sandratrarivo Randriamanohisoamalala Minah (Madagascar) from the Overseas Education College came back with honor after actively participating in the serial activities in New York for “Many Languages, One World” Essay Contest sponsored by the United Nations.
During the one-week stay in New York, the 3 students from Jiangsu University not only attended the award ceremony, but also each made a speech in his or her essay contest language at the Global Youth Forum held at the headquarters of the UN on June 27. A UN Under-Secretary-General and the ELS President attended and each delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Forum, where 60 contesters spoke in turn in the Hall of General Assembly. The speech of each prize winner is focused on the academic impact initiative of the UN and the culture in which they had been brought up. The 3 speeches made Jiangsu University prize winners were warmly applauded and thought highly of by the audience. The speeches were each commented on and remarked by ambassadors from countries of prize winners and the UN officials.
Among the 60 prize winners from all over the world, 6 are from China’s Mainland and 3 from Jiangsu University, but only Zhou Zhenyu is a Chinese student. All the rest 5 are overseas students studying in China.
