November 28, a lecture was given in the International Meeting Center by Professor Walter Park following the ceremony for appointing him as part-time professor at Jiangsu University. Professor Cheng Xiaonong, Vice-president of Jiangsu University granted him the letter of appointment and pinned the university badge for him.
The lecture given by Professor Walter Park is entitled “A quantitative study on intellectual property and the technology transfer of multinational corporations”. In his lecture, Professor Park noted the impact of intellectual property protection of developing countries on international technology transfer pattern and industrial composition. He pointed out that the reinforcement of intellectual property protection in developing countries would change the international trade norms of multinational corporations.
Walter Park is currently a professor of economics in American University at Washington DC, whose major research orientations include intellectual property research and development, international economy, etc. He has published quite a few papers indexed by SSCI. A paper of Professor Park’s published in 1997 that computed for the first time the intellectual property protection indexes between 1960 to 1990 of 110 countries was cited by SSCI papers for 983 times.
