“China Day” at Confucius Institute of Graz

September 28, with the help of Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters, “China Day” was held at Confucius Institute of Graz reaching into the local culture.
Programs under the umbrella of “China Day” were hosted in Färberplatz located in the downtown area of Graz, including stage performances, Chinese cultural stations, films, etc. that lasted 10 hours, attracting about 600 participants. At the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered consecutively by Mr. Markus Schimautz, Representative of Graz’s Mayor, Dr. Martin Polaschek, Vice President of the University of Graz, and Dr. Daniela Unger-Ullmann, Dean of the Confucius Institute of Graz from Austria.
Wonderful programs followed the opening ceremony, respectively those performed by Liebenau School Chorus, Li Xiaoqiu, a celebrated master of martial arts and his team, and the female solo voicing of the Chinese folk songs titled Swallows and Flower Drum of Fengyang. 11 o’clock sharp a.m. saw the opening of the four Chinese cultural stations featuring Chinese language and literature, art, cuisine and herbal medicine. Participants began to experience the Chinese culture at the stations catering to their interests. The programs offered by “China Day” were popular with the local people and attracted the local media to report them.
