September 22, the opening ceremony of Jiangsu University “International Cultural Exchange” Practice Base & “Experiencing Chinese Culture by Learning Chinese Calligraphy and Paintings” was held in Zhenjiang City Elders’ Association of Chinese Calligraphy and Paintings in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province, China. Xu Huaxi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Party’s Discipline Inspection Commission of Jiangsu University, leaders of Zhenjiang City Elders’ Association of Chinese Calligraphy and Paintings, and teachers and more than 30 overseas students from the Overseas Education College of Jiangsu University attended the ceremony and participated in the activities that followed.
At the opening ceremony, Xu Huaxi and Chen Xuesi, President of Zhenjiang City Elders’ Association of Chinese Calligraphy and Paintings jointly unveiled the name plate of Jiangsu University “International Cultural Exchange” Practice Base, marking the beginning of turning Zhenjiang City Elders’ Association of Chinese Calligraphy and Paintings into an extracurricular platform of Jiangsu University Center for the International Promotion of Chinese Language. After the ceremony the overseas students started to enthusiastically learn the Chinese calligraphy and paintings under the personal guidance of the Chinese calligraphers and painters present. The overseas students were overjoyed with their first efforts on Chinese handwriting and paintings.
According to informed sources, Jiangsu University Center for the International Promotion of Chinese Language will extend the activities of experiencing Chinese culture to cover Chinese music, martial arts as well.
