Jiangsu University (JSU) has 29 subjects on the 2026 ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), released on September 15, two more than in last year’s ranking. JSU ranks 188th worldwide by number of listed subjects, 33rd among universities in mainland China, third in Jiangsu Province, and first among provincially administered universities.

Food Science & Technology ranks sixth in the world. 5 JSU subjects are in the world’s top 50 and 11 in the top 100, and 23 subjects improved on their 2025 positions. The results reflect the university’s steady progress in academic development and its growing international standing.

The 2026 GRAS covers 57 subjects across five fields — natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences. Based on publications from 2021 to 2025 and bibliometric data from Web of Science and InCites, it assesses universities against nine internationally comparable indicators to measure their academic competitiveness in each subject.
