Delegation from Deakin University Visits Jiangsu University to Boost Joint Institute Cooperation

A three-person delegation from Deakin University visited Jiangsu University (JSU) from June 23 to 24 to discuss the development of the Jiangsu University–Deakin University Joint Institute. The delegation consisted of Chaturika Bandara, Trina Myers and Yanan Wang.

Chen Feng, Vice President of JSU, received the visitors alongside Cui Yong, Director of the International Office, and relevant faculty representatives.

Vice President Chen welcomed the delegation and highlighted that the official approval of the Jiangsu University-Deakin University Joint Institute marks a major milestones in the deepening partnership between the two universities. He suggested both sides refine the operational and academic plans, with a shared goal of building a high-quality cross-boarder education platform for joint talent training.

Chaturika Bandara restated Deakin University's firm commitment to partnership with JSU and pledged close collaboration to deliver all agreed cooperation arrangements. The team expressed strong expectations for the early luanch and operation of the Joint Institute, which will act as an advanced platform for joint talent cultivation and academic exchange between the two universities.

Tthe two sides held in-depth discussions on core arrangements for the joint Institute’s three founding undergraduate programs: Electrical Engineering and Automation, Software Engineering, and Data Computing and Applications. Talks covered curriculum delivery, course articulation and teaching quality assurance.

Broad consensus was reached on future collaborative plans, including expanding student exchange programs, facilitating reciprocal visits for early-career academics, and jointly applying for international research collaboration projects.

The delegation toured JSU's History Museum, the Cranfield Future Technology Graduate School, and the International Education Center.
