Vice-Chancellor of the University of Portsmouth Visits Jiangsu University

On April 13, a delegation led by Vice-Chancellor Graham Galbraith, accompanied by Director of International Office Emma Payne, and Director of China Office Cheryl Xu from University of Portsmouth (UoP) visited Jiangsu University (JSU). President Zou Xiaobo and Vice President Chen Feng from Jiangsu University (JSU) met with the delegation.

During the meeting, Zou Xiaobo provided an overview of JSU's progress in talent cultivation, disciplinary development and international cooperation, and shared key initiatives taken by the university to foster deeper collaboration between Jiangsu’s higher education institutions and their counterparts in UK. He expressed the hope that both universities could leverage their respective strengths to advance substantive collaboration, particularly in talent cultivation. Galbraith fully acknowledged JSU’s historical heritage and comprehensive strength, and expressed the willingness to engage in in-depth discussions on promoting collaboration in areas such as international talent cultivation, faculty exchanges, and scientific research.

Prior to the meeting, the delegation conducted a site visit to the Emergency Center of the Affiliated Hospital, the "Online Jiangbin" Internet Hospital, and the General Intensive Care Unit (ICU). They also toured the University History Museum, School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, and the Cranfield Future Technology Graduate School.

The University of Portsmouth, located in the southern port city of Portsmouth in UK, is a public comprehensive university. It comprises five faculties: the Faculty of Science and Health, the Faculty of Technology, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Business and Law, and the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries. The university is ranked around the 500th among global comprehensive universities. Its Pharmacy and Pharmacology program ranks among the top five in UK, Medical Imaging sixth, and Creative Industries eighth. Furthermore, the university has notable strengths in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, and Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.
