The results of the 2025 "Young Scientists for a Strong Nation" initiative, organized by China Youth Daily, were recently announced. Prof. Zhou Ling from the Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology of Jiangsu University (JSU) was nominated for the "Young Scientists for a Strong Nation" award, marking the first time JSU has received this honor.

The 2025 "Young Scientists for a Strong Nation" initiative targeted universities, research institutions, and technology innovation enterprises across the country, aiming to identify outstanding young scientists aged 40 and below. The program encourages young scientific talent to contribute to high-quality development, empowering them to take on leading roles and significant responsibilities. Since its launch, the initiative received nearly 400 recommendations from 188 institutions nationwide. After multiple rounds of expert evaluations, 11 young scientists were selected as awardees, with an additional 39 receiving nominations. Compared to previous years, this year's participants represented a broader range of research institutions, showcased more advanced technological achievements, and demonstrated a greater number of internationally impactful research outcomes.
Prof. Zhou Ling has long been engaged in research on the hydraulic design and internal flow mechanisms of multistage pumps. The high-performance multistage pump products he developed are widely used in deep-earth and deep-sea oil and gas extraction, mine drainage emergency rescue, and other fields, making significant contributions to technological innovation in China's hydraulic machinery sector and its application in major engineering projects.
