Recently, Stanford University and Elsevier jointly released the list of World’s Top 2% Scientists 2025. The list is divided into the "2025 Annual Influence Ranking" and the "Lifetime Science Influence Ranking". Jiangsu University (JSU) has a total of 67 scholars selected for the "Lifetime Science Influence Ranking", and 246 scholars listed among world's top 2% scientists 2025, increasing by 2 and 10 respectively compared to last year. The number of JSU scholars on the list ranks 30th among mainland universities.
It is understood that the list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists is based on six comprehensive indicators, including the number of paper citations of nearly 7 million scientists around the world, h-factor (full name "H-index", which is used to evaluate the number and level of academic output of scientific researchers), hm factor modified by co-authors, and the number of citations of articles by single or first authors, and selects the top 2% of scientists in the world, which are divided into 22 subject areas and 174 sub-disciplines, providing measurement indicators for the long-term scientific research performance of scientists. It can reflect the influence of scientists more objectively and realistically. The Lifetime Science Influence Ranking focus more on the impact of researchers throughout their academic careers to date, while the Annual Influence Ranking focus more on the academic achievements of researchers in the current year.
