Governor of Khomas Region of the Republic of Namibia visited JSU

On August 2, the Governor of Khomas Region of the Republic of Namibia Hon. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma led the delegation to visit Jiangsu University (JSU). Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu University (JSU) Committee Li Hongbo and Vice President of JSU Prof. Cai Yingfeng met the delegation, accompanied by the leaders of International Office, School of Energy and Power Engineering, School of the Environment and Safety Engineering, School of Computer Science and Communication Engineering, School of Management, School of Teacher Education, Overseas Educational College, Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology of JSU, and JSUs alumni Vice President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Namibia Mr. Yan Bin.

Secretary Li Hongbo delivered a welcome speech on behalf of JSU, introduced the university's discipline advantages and achievements on internationalization, and the cooperation with African universities. He stated that JSU has carried out various forms of educational exchanges and cooperation with Namibia and other African countries. He expressed hope to become an important partner of Namibia in talent cultivation, personnel training, scientific research, cultural exchanges, etc. in the future, and serve Namibia's "Vision 2030" strategy and China's "the Belt and Road" initiative, contributing to closer China-Africa cooperation and promoting the mutual development and prosperity of the two countries.

Governor Hon. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma hopes that Jiangsu Province and Khomas Region can carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of university faculty training, joint research and development in the information industry such as artificial intelligence and green development, and joint construction of laboratories focusing on precision agricultural logistics management, in order to jointly develop and meet the challenges of future technological development.

During the meeting, Vice President of JSU Prof. Cai Yingfeng and Vice President of the Namibia University of Science and Technology Prof. Colin Stanley, also signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two universities.

The delegation also visited Key Laboratory of Intelligent Agricultural Machinery Equipment Theory and Industry Center, gaining a deeper understanding of JSU's educational characteristics and research achievements of "agriculture in industry, strengthening agriculture with industry".

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Namibia, as well as the 10th anniversary of the close relationship between Jiangsu Province and Khomas Region. This exchange is at a critical period of deepening relations of China and Namibia and implementing the achievements of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Under the guidance of Jiangsu Province, JSU will work together with its counterparts in Khomas Region to transform the common vision of cooperation into fruitful results and contribute to building a closer China-Africa community with a shared future.
