Opening of the 2025 "Chinese Bridge" Summer Camp of Confucius Institute at University of Niš

On July 17, the 2025 "Chinese Bridge" Summer Camp, organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and hosted by Jiangsu University, officially commenced. Fifteen Serbian students and one accompanying teacher from our co-established Confucius Institute at University of Niš embarked on an 11-day journey to immerse themselves in the Chinese language and the culture of Zhenjiang.

At the opening ceremony, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu University (JSU) Committee Zhang Jijian extended a warm welcome to the Serbian group. He highlighted JSU’s strengths and emphasized the camp’s role in promoting cultural exchange and strengthening international friendships. He encouraged participants to explore Chinese culture and enhance friendship through this experience.

Vice Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Deputy Director of the Language and Culture Center Prof. Yu Hongyan, outlined the camp’s curriculum and activities, which would surely enhance the students’ Chinese proficiency and deepen their understanding of Chinese culture.

Student representative from the University of Niš Boris, expressed gratitude in fluent Chinese to the organizers for this valuable opportunity. He shared his excitement about the camp and pledged to actively engage in cultural activities, aiming to become a future ambassador of Sino-Serbian cultural exchange.

Secretary of the CPC Committee of School of Liberal Arts Qu Yunjin presented books to the participants, including Three Character Classic and Thousand Character Classic edited by Prof. Ren Xiaofei, and 100 Common Chinese Sentences edited by Prof. Yu Hongyan, offering new resources for language and cultural learning.

This summer camp serves as a platform for Serbian youth to experience Chinese culture and language, further enhancing people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Against the backdrop of building a China-Serbia community with a shared future, the event strengthens the foundation of friendship and contributes to a global community of shared destiny.
