Recently, the 2025 Research Leaders (formerly known as the Nature Index Annual Tables) were released, showcasing the high-quality scientific research output of different countries and research institutions in the field of natural sciences from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024.
According to the data, Jiangsu University (JSU) ranks 123rd in the world, an increase of 59 places over the previous year. 47 universities in mainland China were listed, an increase of 7 places over the previous year. The adjusted share increased by 38.50% in 2023-2024.
The Nature Index is an indicator used to evaluate the research performance of an institution, using two measurement criteria: the number of papers (Count) and the contribution share (Share), based on the publication output of an institution or country in 145 natural science and health science journals. These journals are selected by an independent group of top scientists in their respective fields based on reputation. This journal list is regularly reviewed, and journals may be deleted or added.
Among Top 500 universities according to the number of 2025 Nature Index research leaders, there are 153 universities from mainland China.
