On June 26, Executive Dean, Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment (SEBE) Prof. Nick Birbilis led a delegation to visit Jiangsu University (JSU). Vice President of JSU Prof. Cai Yingfeng met the delegation, accompanied by the leaders of International Office, School of Electrical and Information Engineering, School of Computer Science and Communication Engineering, School of Mathematical Sciences and Jiangsu University Cranfield Tech Futures Graduate Institute.

Vice President Prof. Cai Yingfeng reviewed the history of cooperation between the two universities, introduced the basic overview of the university and its achievements on internationalization, and expressed hope to further deepen the cooperation between two universities in the fields of scientific research, international talent cultivation, and scholar visits. She emphasize the desire to diversify forms of cooperation, elevate the level of cooperation to open new chapters in the partnership between the two universities. Nick Birbilis introduced the development history, student scale, and international cooperation of Deakin University, and expressed his willingness to strengthen exchange between faculty and students and to engage in international talent cultivation with JSU.
After the meeting, the delegation from Deakin University visited relevant schools and laboratories.
Deakin University in Australia was founded in 1974, with its main campus located in Melbourne, Victoria. It is named after Alfred Deakin, the second Prime Minister of Australia, and is a globally renowned international comprehensive public university. Jiangsu Province and Victoria State established friendly provincial state relations in 1979. Deakin University has four faculties: Arts and Education (with four colleges), Business Law (with two colleges), Health (with five colleges), and Science, Engineering and Built Environment (with four colleges). With over 70000 students, it is one of the largest universities in Australia in terms of student population. The school ranks 197th in the QS 2025 ranking and has held the top position in student satisfaction in Victoria for 11 consecutive years.
