Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor visited Jiangsu University

On May 22, the Hong Kong Science and Technology Economic and Trade delegation coming over 20 people from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) visited Jiangsu University (JSU). The fifth-term Chief Executive of HKSAR and Honorary Head of the delegation Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, was invited to give a lecture entitled Adhering to and Improving the Practice of 'One Country Two Systems' in Hong Kong, and interacted cordially with teachers and students of JSU.

Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu University (JSU) Committee Li Hongbo, warmly welcomed the visit of Ms. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet ngor in his speech. He briefly introduced the development characteristics of JSU and the situation of educational cooperation with HKSAR. He also stated that JSU will take this event as a new opportunity to further strengthen cooperation and exchanges with Hong Kong universities in talent cultivation, scientific research, cultural inheritance, and other aspects, and contribute more to the innovative development of Jiangsu Province and Hong Kong.

In her report, Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor introduced in detail the historical background of the "One Country Two Systems" policy and the practice in Hong Kong based on her own experience. She shared her experience in leading Hong Kong to overcome enormous challenges in accordance with the Constitution of the People's Republic of China and the Basic Law of the HKSAR with the support of the Central Government during her tenure as the fifth-term Chief Executive of the HKSAR. She said that she is full of confidence in the future of Hong Kong, which is "backed by the motherland and facing the world", and is actively building a highland for international high-end talents to make greater contributions to the construction of a strong country and national rejuvenation. She also introduced a number of measures to attract talents applied in Hong Kong, and welcomed everyone to study, work and develop in Hong Kong.

Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor exchanged and interacted with teachers and students on topics such as how Hong Kong can better interpret the connotation and value of "One Country Two Systems" to the world, Hong Kong's experience in urban transportation planning and management, and how young law students can contribute to the construction of a rule of law China.

During the visit, the head of the delegation and the president of the Jiangsu Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, and the chairman of Yingda Technology Group Mr. Shi Weibin, shared his entrepreneurial story and innovative ideas key elements of innovative technology talents. He had an on-site dialogue with three professors from Nanjing University, Southeast University, and JSU, encouraging everyone to uphold the concept of lifelong learning, bravely shoulder the mission of the times, and contribute youthful strength to the prosperity of the country.



After the meeting, the delegation visited Jiangsu Province United Front Education Practice Base and JSU History Museum.
