On April 2, the Seminar on "China Southeast Asian Nations Relations and Industry-Education Integration to Help Agricultural Machinery Enterprises of Jiangsu Province to Go Global" was held at Jiangsu University (JSU), focusing on topics such as the current situation in the Southeast Asian region and China Southeast Asian Nations relations, cooperation between JSU and Southeast Asian Nations countries agricultural machinery, strengthening cooperation between Jiangsu Province's Agricultural Machinery and Southeast Asian Nations, and exports.
President of JSU Prof. Xing Weihong, Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Shi Zhongjun, Former President of JSU Prof. Yan Xiaohong, Vice President of JSU Prof. Cai Yingfeng, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Zhenjiang City Lu Lilin, relevant leaders of ACC, International Office, School of Foreign Languages, School of Agricultural Engineering, Key Laboratory of Theory and Technology of Intelligent Agricultural Machinery Equipment, Department of Agricultural Engineering, School of Food and Biological Engineering, and Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology of JSU, experts and scholars in related fields from National University of Defense Technology and Nanjing University, representatives of World Group, Jiangsu Yueda Intelligent Agricultural Equipment Co., Ltd, Suzhou Jiufu Agricultural Machinery Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Jianghuai Power Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Huayuan Water Saving Co., Ltd. and other enterprises attended the seminar. The seminar was chaired by Chairman of the Global Development and Security Research Institute Prof. Xu Bu of JSU.

President Prof. Xing Weihong held a meeting with Secretary General Shi Zhongjun before the Seminar. She introduced the current development status, advantageous disciplines, and cooperation achievements with Southeast Asian Nations countries in various fields of JSU. Both sides reached a consensus on deepening cooperation between ACC and JSU in talent cultivation, scientific research innovation, and cultural exchanges.

Vice President Prof. Cai Yingfeng stated that JSU has significant advantages in disciplines such as agricultural engineering, food and biotechnology, and has conducted extensive cooperation with Southeast Asian Nations countries such as Thailand and Indonesia in recent years. Relying on the Platform of ACC, fully carrying out industry education cooperation between schools and agricultural machinery enterprises, promoting Jiangsu Province’s agricultural machinery enterprises to move towards Southeast Asian Nations, is of great significance for promoting the construction of JSU's disciplines and serving the development of new quality productivity of agriculture in Jiangsu Province.

Secretary General Shi Zhongjun pointed out that the negotiations for upgrading the China Southeast Asian Nations Free Trade Area version 3.0 substantially ended last year, and the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Southeast Asian Nations countries in emerging fields, the integration and interoperability in standards and rules, and the convenience and smoothness in trade will make significant progress. The ACC is willing to establish a platform for exchanges with universities and cooperation with enterprises, fully leveraging its role as a bridge and link, and endowing the construction of the China Southeast Asian Nations comprehensive strategic partnership with new connotations.

Prof. Xu Bu pointed out that 2026 marks the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Southeast Asian Nations countries, and the construction of the China Southeast Asian Nations community of shared future will enter a new stage. Southeast Asian countries have a huge demand for agricultural machinery, and JSU has demonstrated strong competitiveness in agricultural machinery, agricultural innovation, and talent cultivation. JSU hopes to leverage the platform advantages of the ACC to promote the construction of relevant agricultural machinery cooperation demonstration centers, serve national strategic needs and provincial and municipal economic development needs, and continuously enhance the JSU's educational influence.

Prof. Yan Xiaohong stated that the disciplinary advantages of JSU are highly compatible with the market demand of Southeast Asian Nations countries and the overseas aspirations of relevant enterprises in the province. The development of China's agricultural machinery industry has shown a new trend, which requires all parties to work together, seek common benefits, and continuously promote the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas and the construction of a strong agricultural country.
Representatives of participating enterprises expressed their hope to establish relevant agricultural machinery promotion associations as soon as possible under the guidance of the ACC and the organization of relevant departments of JSU, to help Jiangsu Province’s agricultural machinery enterprises unite and go global, and provide service solutions covering the entire industry chain for the agricultural development of Southeast Asian Nations countries.
The heads of relevant schools, research centers, and laboratories on campus stated that they will continuously deepen the two-way empowerment of disciplinary construction and industrial cooperation, and provide scientific research and talent support for the modernization and intelligent development of agricultural machinery in China.
Secretary General Shi Zhongjun responded to the representatives of enterprises and universities, stating that there is a broad prospect for cooperation between China and Southeast Asian Nations countries in the fields of agriculture and agricultural machinery. The ACC will assist enterprises, universities, and relevant departments of Southeast Asian Nations countries in establishing contacts and continuously deepening exchanges and cooperation between China and Southeast Asian Nations countries in the field of agricultural machinery.
After the meeting, Secretary General Shi Zhongjunand other attendees visited the Key Laboratory for Theory and Technology of Intelligent Agricultural Machinery Equipment to gain a deeper understanding of the scientific research achievements of the JSU's agricultural disciplines in recent years.
