On Nov. 14, the Clarivate Analytics released the latest Essential Science Indicators (ESI) data. The Mathematics of Jiangsu University (JSU) entered the top 1% for the first time, which marks a new breakthrough in the discipline construction of JSU. So far, JSU has 16 disciplines that have entered the top 1% of ESI globally, including 4 disciplines in the top 1‰.
According to the ESI, there are a total of 383 institutions listed in the global mathematics discipline, with 83 institutions in Chinese mainland on the list. JSU's mathematics discipline has performed outstandingly, with a total of 784 high-level papers published and a total citation frequency of 5197 times, ranking 381st in the world, demonstrating the further improvement of the overall strength of the discipline.
JSU stands 381st in the international ranking according to the data,and ranked 40th among Chinese mainland universities.
ESI divides all disciplines into 22 professional fields, measuring scientific research performance and tracking disciplinary development trends from the perspective of citation analysis. It is one of the important evaluation indicators commonly used worldwide to evaluate the international academic level and influence of universities, academic institutions, countries, and regions. Entering the top 1% of ESI globally is generally regarded as an international high-level discipline, which is a direct recognition of the discipline's strength and a reflection of the university's outstanding position and extensive influence in academic competition.
