On Sept. 20, the unveiling ceremony of the Confucius Institute at University of Niš was held was held at University of Niš, and the parallel venue of Jiangsu University (JSU) was held online. More than 100 guests from from China and Serbia attended the event, including Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming, Education Counsellor Yuan Jigang, Representative of the Governor of Nishawa Province Jovana Mitić, Deputy Mayor of Niš City Ivana Cvetković, President of the Nish Chamber of Commerce in Serbia Aleksandar Milicević, Deputy National Representative of the Eurasian Regional Headquarters of China Power Construction International Corporation Yang Bo, President of JSU Prof. Xing Weihong, Vice President of JSU Prof. Zou Xiaobo, Vice President of JSU Prof. Cai Yingfeng, President of University of Niš Prof. Dragan Antić, and Vice President of University of Niš Jovan Stepanović.
Li Ming, Jovana Mitić, Ivana Cvetković, Dragan Antić, Zou Xiaobo jointlycut the ribbon and unveiled the Confucius Institute at University of Niš. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Serbia, Li Ming presented over 1600 sets of Chinese learning materials and nearly 700 boxes of electronic textbooks to the Confucius Institute at University of Niš.
The Confucius Institute at University of Niš was approved in 2023 and is jointly established by University of Niš and JSU. It is the third Confucius Institute in Serbia. This unveiling ceremony marks the comprehensive development stage of Confucius Institute at University of Niš. The Confucius Institute at University of Niš will serve the Chinese language needs of Niš and central and southern Serbia with the goal of " learning in order to practice", and promote the joint training of international talents between University of Niš and local enterprises, effectively leverage the role of cooperation and joint construction platforms, promote cultural exchanges between China and Serbia, enhance mutual trust, and cultivate friendship.
