On July 11, the Clarivate Analytics released the latest Essential Science Indicators (ESI) data. The Materials Science of Jiangsu University (JSU) entered the top 1‰ of ESI global ranking and Microbiology of JSU entered the top 1% for the first time, which marks a new breakthrough in the discipline construction of JSU.
Up to now, the number of disciplines of JSU entering the top 1% of ESI global ranking has reached 15, they are Engineering, Materials Science, Clinical Medicine, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Biology & Biochemistry, Environmental Ecology, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Computer Science, Botany & Animal Sciences, General Social Sciences, Physics and Immunology. Among them, Engineering, Chemistry, Agricultural Science and Materials Science are ranked in the top 1‰ globally.
JSU stands 381st in the international ranking according to the data,and ranked 40th among Chinese mainland universities.
ESI is a basic analysis and evaluation tool for measuring scientific research performance and tracking scientific trends. It is a measurement and analytical database based on more than 10 million records of over 12,000 academic journals across the world included in the Web of Science (SCIE/SSCI). At present, ESI has become one of the most important evaluation indexes for evaluating the international academic level and influence of universities, academic institutions, countries and regions worldwide.
