On July 21, over 80 students of United Nation (UN) China Study Programme and American Chinese language teacher training class from America, Switzerland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Poland visited Jiangsu University (JSU) .
Former Head of Chinese Language Programme of Language and Communication Programme of UN and Head of the United Nations Training Program in China He Yong, Vice President of JSU Prof. Ren Xudong, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Zhenjiang City Lu Lilin, and relevant leaders of International Office, Overseas Education College, School of Liberal Arts of JSU and Institute for International Students of Nanjing University attended the meeting.
On behalf of JSU, Vice President Ren Xudong extended a warm welcome to all the students and introduced in detail the development of JSU and its cooperation and exchanges with international organizations such as the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). He pointed out that JSU attaches great importance to cooperation with the United Nations and its affiliated agencies, and hopes to invite more UN officials and technical experts to come to JSU for exchange and guidance, expand cooperation space, and also hope to send more students to intern and serve in the United Nations and its affiliated agencies.
In his speech, He Yong said that Zhenjiang's historical and cultural heritage, the city's construction style, and JSU’s international development all left a deep impression on the delegation, and they hoped to take this opportunity to further develop multi-disciplinary cooperation with JSU. Afterwards, He Yong, on behalf of the project team, presented a United Nations flag to JSU.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the University History Museum and China Agricultural Machinery Culture Exhibition Hall. The participants expressed their admiration for the JSU's tireless pursuit of agricultural machinery, the development of international education, and the achievements and international radiation of its superior disciplines.
The visit enhanced the in-depth understanding of JSU by the United Nations staff and representatives of Chinese language teachers in the United States, and laid a good foundation for the subsequent docking cooperation.
