From May 8 to 15, President of Jiangsu University (JSU) Prof. Xing Weihong led a delegation to visit partner universities in the UK and Serbia, meet with alumni, visit Chinese institutions functioning abroad, and conduct high-level overseas talent exchange activities.
When in the UK, the delegation visited Cranfield University (CU), where both sides had extensive discussions on the development of the Cranfield Tech Futures Graduate Institute and reached a consensus on deepening inter-university cooperation. At Loughborough University (LU), the delegation and the university exchanged in-depth ideas on collaborative initiatives for the internationalization of undergraduate talent training. The delegation also visited the laboratories of CU and LU to explore further cooperation on scientific research. Additionally, the delegation visited the headquarters of Times Higher Education and conducted high-level talent exchange activities at the University of Cambridge.
During their stay in Serbia, the delegation went to the site of the former Chinese Embassy to pay their respects to Xu Xinghu and other martyrs. At PowerChina Eurasia, the delegation reached a consensus with General Manager Liu Shaoquan on strengthening university-enterprise international talent training and scientific research cooperation, and jointly witnessed the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Cooperation between University of Niš and PowerChina Eurasia. At University of Niš, both sides signed a student exchange agreement, and the delegation participated in the "Jiangsu University Open Day" event.
Director of the Discipline Construction and Planning Development Office Yang Juan, Executive Vice Dean of Jiangsu University Cranfield Tech Futures Graduate Institute Wang Changda, and Dean of the School of Pharmacy Wei Yuan, each gave specialized academic lectures at relevant faculties of University of Niš. Deputy Director of the International Office Zou Shijian, introduced the internationalization efforts of JSU. The delegation also met with officials from the Niš city government and alumni. They actively introduced the progress of JSU’s scientific research cooperation and encouraged young scientific talents and students to collaborate with JSU, contributing to the construction of China-Serbia community of shared future in a new era.
The delegation also visited the Chinese Embassy in Serbia, where they were received by Ambassador Li Ming, Cultural Counselor Tang Dasheng, and Education Counselor Yuan Jigang.
This visit enhanced mutual understanding between JSU and sister universities, deepened cooperative friendships, expanded new areas of cooperation, and further increased the university's international influence.
