On April 12, the delegation led by Vice Chairman of the Board of Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile S.A. (SQM) Mr. Patricio Alberto Contesse Fica paid a visit to Jiangsu University (JSU) and signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SQM and JSU.

Before the signing ceremony, Secretary of the CPC JSU Committee Prof. Li Hongbo, Vice President of JSU Prof. Cai Yingfeng, and Director of Institute for Global Development and Security of JSU Xu Bu met the delegation.

At the signing ceremony, Secretary Li Hongbo noted that JSU, following the principle of openness, is ready to work with all foreign companies, including SQM, to jointly explore new international cooperation models of industry, academia, research and application. He also expressed the hope that the cooperation between JSU and SQM will inject new strengths and strong impetus into the high-quality development of both sides, making positive contributions to developing clean energies and new quality productive forces, promoting the exchange and cooperation between the two countries and delivering greater benefits to the two peoples.

Mr. Patricio Alberto Contesse Fica spoke highly of JSU for remaining committed to the path of internationalized development. He expressed the hope that a new community that bring together enterprises, universities, research institutes and end-users could be built, which injects new impetus into the development of both sides, develops new models of further cooperation for universities and companies of the two countries and makes new contributions to deepening the friendship between the two countries, through the cooperation between JSU and SQM, as a giant global lithium company standing committed to the Chinese market and developing rapidly.

Full of expectation about the cooperation between JSU and SQM, Mr. Xu Bu expressed his hope that win-win cooperation, friendship growth and common developments can be achieved through the substantive cooperation of both sides.

Vice President Cai Yingfeng and Mr. Patricio Alberto Contesse Fica jointly signed the MOU on collaboration of industry, academia, research, and application in fields including lithium batteries, new energy, low-carbon and environmental protection.

The event was chaired by Director of International Office of JSU Cui Yong. Prof. Xing Liju from Fudan University and leaders of relevant departments and schools of JSU attended the ceremony.

The SQM was founded in 1968, it is the one of the world-renowned lithium companies, which is headquartered in Santiago, Chile.
