35 Academic Subjects of JSU Listed in Times Higher Education’s China Subject Ratings 2024

Recently, Times Higher Education (THE) released the 2024 China Subject Ratings. Jiangsu University (JSU) ranks 30th among mainland universities with 14 A-class subjects and 35 disciplines on the list. Compared with 2023, the number of Class A subjects of JSU has increased by 3.

Among them, Environmental Science and Engineering was rated A; Chemistry, Instrument Science and Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology, Control Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Agricultural Engineering, Food Science and Engineering, Medical Technology, Biology, Mechanics, Material Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering were rated A-; Ecology, Optical Engineering, Mathematics, Metallurgical Engineering, Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, Safety Science and Engineering, Pharmacy, Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration, Applied Economics, Physics, Statistics, Biomedical Engineering, Basic Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Computer Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering, Water Conservancy Engineering, Traffic and Transportation Engineering, and 20 other subjects were rated B.

With global universities for reference, Times Higher Educations China Subject Rating is the only Chinese university performance rating based on Chinese Ministry of Education’s classification of subjects. The rating covers 83 subjects, ranging from A+ to C-. The rating performance indicators cover five key areas, including teaching, research, citations, industry revenue and internationalisation. The assessment results provide universities in China’s mainland with global insights at the subject level, as well as an opportunity to compare and demonstrate academic strengths with universities in other countries of the world.
