Recently, the final of the 16th “Higher Education Cup” Innovation Competition of Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling for University Students has come to an end in Chongqing. Students of Jiangsu University (JSU) have performed excellently in the mechanical competitions and won first prizes in the mechanical teams. They have also won 6 first prizes, 8 second prizes, and 5 third prizes in the individual mapping competition, 1 first prize, 1 second prize, and 1 third prize in additive manufacturing competition, 1 first prize, 1 second prize, and 1 third prize in lightweight design competition, and 1 second prize, and 1 third prize in digital innovation design competition. The mechanical prizes of Jiangsu University rank the first in Jiangsu Province and the 9th in the whole country, and it is the first time for JSU to have entered the national final competition of the architectural track.

The Innovation Competition of Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling for University Students was established in 2007. It was listed in the ranking list of national disciplinery competitions among universities and regarded as “the Olympic Games in the field of graphics” by the China Association of Higher Education in 2018. The competition aims to cultivate students’ craftsmanship spirit, stimulate their innovative consciousness, explore the development direction of graphics, and innovate the methods and collection of graphic carriers, in order to promote teaching, learning, and reform through competitions. It comprehensively enhances the graphic ability of University students, creating a large number of outstanding talents to promote the transformation from Made in China to Created in China.
The final of the competition was hosted by the Cartographic Technology Committee, the Product Information Modeling Professional Committee of the China Graphics Society, the Organizing Committee of the Innovation Competition of Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling for University Students. It was jointly organized by Chongqing Jiaotong University and Chongqing Jianzhu College.
After multiple rounds of selection for university and provincial competitions, more than 740 universities and 1188 teams, including Harbin Institute of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sichuan University, Beihang University, Southeast University, and Hohai University, participated in the competition, with 11330 participants.
After one year’s learning, intensive training, and rounds of selection, JSU’s 22 students participated in the mechanical and architectural finals. Through the competition, we have strengthened the mapping technology and obtained effective training and improvement in such aspect such as basic skills, innovative design, product research and development, and innovative practice.
