On September 17, the national final of the 10th Energy Equipment Innovative Design Competition for China Postgraduates was held in China University of Petroleum (East China). 13 teams from Jiangsu University (JSU) were shortlisted for the final. JSU ranked second with 4 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 6 third prizes, and won the Outstanding Organization Award, achieving the best results in the history of JSU’s participation in this competition, which is a new breakthrough for JSU.

Since the launch of the competition in May this year, JSU has attached great importance to it. The School of Energy and Power Engineering shouldered the responsibility of organizing the competition on the campus, and invited experts to publicize the competition, supervise the students in cultivating projects, writing proposals and conduct road show training.
After fierce competitions, Electric Field Enhancement of Biodiesel Preparation and Hydroupgrading Equipment and other 4 works won first prizes, Research on High-Efficiency Energy-Saving Technology of New-type Vertical Foam Pump and other 3 works second prizes, and Efficient Granulation Technology of Straw and Coal and its Burning Equipment Heating Boiler Oriented and other 6 works third prizes.
As one of the competitions of China Postgraduate Innovation & Practice Series Competitions, the Energy Equipment Innovative Design Competition for China Postgraduates is one of the most influential discipline events for postgraduates in China with the highest level and the largest number of participants. Hosted by Association of Chinese Graduate Education and Children and Youth Science Center of China Association for Science and Technology, this competition aims to advance the innovation and development of energy equipment under the principle of “The competition cultivates talents, who lead innovation, which drives the development”.
A record high of 1654 teams from 221 universities and graduate-training institutes across China sit this year’s competition. 36 works won first prizes, 75 works second prizes and 251 third prizes.
In recent years, JSU has attached great importance to discipline events for postgraduates, persisting in integrating innovation education into the whole process and system of postgraduate education, and enhancing postgraduates’ innovative capacity in scientific researches by intense training in different stages of the competition.
