According to the latest data released by the U.S. Essential Science Indicators (ESI), Jiangsu University's (JSU) comprehensive ESI ranking has improved significantly. It now ranks 45th in the Chinese National Comprehensive Ranking of Colleges and Universities, and 554th in the Global Rankings Table. The Disciplines (field) of Plant & Animal Science and Social Sciences, General of JSU are now ranked in the top 1% of the ESI Global Universities and Research Institutions Rankings, for the first time. Social Science, General is also the first humanities discipline of JSU to be ranked in the top 1% of the ESI.
JSU now boasts top 1% ranking for specific academic disciplines in 5 academic fields, namely Engineering, Science, Medicine, Management, and Agriculture. Currently Engineering, Chemistry, Agricultural Sciences, Materials Science, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Biology & Biochemistry, Clinical Medicine, Environment/Ecology, Social Science, General, Plant &Animal Science, Computer Science of JSU, a total of 12 academic disciplines are ranked in the top 1% of the ESI Global Universities and Research Institutions.
JSU ranks 4th in the Jiangsu Provincial comprehensive ranking of Colleges and Universities. Academic subjects offered by JSU listed in the Top 1‰ subject ranking has shown a steady improvement, with Engineering moving up to 0.55‰, Chemistry moving up to 0.896‰ position and Agricultural Science now moving up to 1.055 ‰ in the ranking.
At present, ESI has become one of the most important index tools for evaluating the international academic level and influence of Universities and Academic Institutions in countries/regions internationally.
Since 2022 JSU has had 1 additional subject enter the top 1‰ rankings and 3 subjects now included in the top 1% rankings. This indicates significant academic progress, and related subject areas, now have, a higher academic influence internationally.
