The final round of the 16^th Postgraduate International Academic Conference Simulation Competition was held by the Graduate School and the School of Foreign Languages along with the Department of Foreign Language Teaching of Jiangsu University on June 5. There were four Chinese and two foreign teams entering the final round out of approximately 1000 opponents in the preliminary and the semifinal round.

Vice President Quan Li delivered the opening speech, encouraged postgraduate students to strengthen the awareness of academic frontiers, actively participate in exchanging ideas and cooperating with the researchers from different cultural background, expand their international view and communication ability, and become the excellent talents that follow the road to internationalization development.

The finals of the oral presentation consisted of team report and on-the-spot question and answer. The professional judges were the distinguished guests including Li Chongyue, Dean of School of Foreign Languages, Wang Changda, Vice Dean of Graduate School, Cui Yong, Vice Dean of Overseas Education College, Liu Lei, Vice President of Institute for Advanced Materials, Chen Xin, Director of Foreign Language Teaching Department of Graduate Students, and the foreign teacher, Frankie. Six professional mentors went up to the stage, which has greatly improved the morale and performance of the contestants in the competition. Finally, the team from the Academy of Arts and the Overseas Education College won the first prize. The second prize and third prize went to teams from the School of Energy and Power Engineering, the School of Mechanical Engineering, the Overseas Education College and a merged team that consisted of students from both the School of Pharmacy and the School of Science. In the end, Liu Lei made a thorough evaluation on the contestants’ performance.

The Postgraduate International Academic Conference Simulation Competition is one of the iconic constructional projects of teaching-in-English reformation in the university. The competition has been held for 16 consecutive years so far. It has always paid attention to the innovation of the form and content. The competition is carried out among Chinese and foreign graduate students in order to promote teaching and learning through competition, so as to improve the enthusiasm and participation of international academic exchanges and serve the internationalization strategy of Jiangsu University.
