Prof. Heinz Wilhelm Siesler at University of Duisberg-Essen appointed as guest professor of JSU

June 6, the ceremony of appointing Prof. Heinz Wilhelm Siesler at the University of Duisberg-Essen of Germany as guest professor of Jiangsu University was held in the 3rd Lecture Hall of the International Meeting Center, followed by an academic presentation by the appointee. Vice President Chen Long at Jiangsu University attended the ceremony, granted a letter of appointment to Dr. Heinz Wilhelm Siesler and pinned the school badge of Jiangsu University on him.

After the ceremony of appointment, Prof. Heinz Wilhelm Siesler gave a lecture entitled “The Near-Infrared Region: A Plea for an Undervalued Wavelength Range of Vibrational Spectroscopy”, in which he reviews the history of near infrared spectroscopy, compares the Raman, near-infrared, and ATR mid-infrared optical fiber technologies on the basis of stechiometry, and focuses on the application of NIS to chemical industry quality control, chemical reaction or process inspection, etc. After giving the report, Prof. Siesler visited the laboratories of the School of Food and Biological Engineering.

Prof. Heinz Wilhelm Siesler is an internationally renowned specialist in spectrology, has been studying spectrology for more than 40 years, and is currently a tenured full professor of the University of Duisberg-Essen.
