Professor Zhang Yiheng at Virginia Tech hired as part-time professor of JSU

May 26, Professor Zhang Yiheng at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University visited Jiangsu University and got appointed as part-time professor. The ceremony of appointment was held in the International Conference Center, where Professor Wu Xiangyang, Dean of the School of Environment and Safety Engineering, granted the appointed professor a letter of appointment and pinned the school badge on him. Faculties and students from the School of Environment and Safety Engineering of JU, the School of Energy and Power Engineering of JU, and the School of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Technology of Nanjing University of Technology attended the lecture later given by Professor Zhang.

After the ceremony of appointment was done, Professor Zhang Yiheng gave a lecture entitled “A success model for biological engineering industrialization and its application: from microorganisms to the manufacturing of non-cellular life”. After the lecture, Professor Zhang Yiheng had an intimate talk with research fellows of the Biofuels Institute of Jiangsu University on fields of interest for the purpose of further cooperation.

Professor Zhang Yiheng is currently tenured full professor at Virginia Tech. He mainly researches non-cellular synthetic biology, artificial photosynthesis, biological catalysis, enzyme engineering, lignocellulose separation engineering, cellulose engineering, etc.
