October 30, Li Li, a Cuban girl from Overseas Education College, Jiangsu University who is now taking the undergraduate courses of Chinese language and literature offered by the School of Humanities & Law, Jiangsu University, came third due to her excellent performance in 2013 “Jiangsu Province Chinese Speech Contest” held in the headquarters of Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation.

The final contest was attended by 18 overseas students from America, Cuba, Italy, Bulgaria, Australia, Kazakhstan, etc., who loved Chinese culture and had studied Chinese in Jiangsu province for a fairly long period of time. On the stage they had each “shown their special talents” in speaking Chinese. Li Li from Jiangsu University began her performance on the stage with a stunning samba dance. Then she successfully completed the tests respectively titled “Initial Judgement of Chinese” and “Video Multiple Choice”. During her speech, Li Li affectionately told her story of how she “had fallen in love” with China… and then at the decisive stage of the contest she dramatized a lively scene of “a wife quarrelling with her husband” in fluent Chinese. Finally she came third in the competition with a total score of 83.

Nearly 30 overseas students from Overseas Education College, Jiangsu Province cheered Li Li below the stage. They were enthused to learn Chinese better by Li Li’s excellent performance on the stage, saying that they would like to seize an opportunity to attend Chinese contests to be held next year.
